Rohit Shetty is taking on a new project based on the real life hero, Rakesh Maria. While he is currently directing Golmaal 5 some sources reveal that Rohit is set to produce a biopic on the former Mumbai Police Joint Commissioner to honor his incredible contributions.
He shared a strong bond with Rakesh Maria who has been instrumental in providing research support for his cop universe films. The script for the biopic is finalized and the film will begin production in the summer of 2025.
John Abraham has been cast in the lead role portraying the celebrated cop Rakesh Maria. “John is excited to work with Rohit Shetty”.
“This film won’t be part of the cop universe but will create its own unique space, as Rakesh Maria is one of the most iconic real life super cops” a source revealed.
This biopic will be Rohit Shetty’s next production after Singham Again and is slated to release in 2026.
